Students experience brick-making workshops at North Star Science School
The North Star Science School brings together young people, educators, scientists, and businesses to explore the future of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) in the South Yorkshire Region.
For the 5th year, Ibstock welcomed hundreds of year 8 and 9 students to experience a handmade brick workshop, a messy, fun and engaging activity.
Held at Gulliver’s Valley Resort in Rotherham, this one-day experience includes inspirational speakers and a hands-on workshop.
Supported by our partner school, Wales High School Academy Trust, and Ibstock apprentices, the students learned about Ibstock’s 200-year history and the advancements in science, technology and engineering that have innovated the process.
The vision is to combine science with curiosity and play to stimulate and inspire the next generation to consider the fascinating range of careers in STEAM subjects.
Created by Professor Brian Cox CBE and Lord Andrew Mawson OBE in 2012, the Science Summer School programme aims to make Britain the best place to do science and engineering by inspiring the UK’s next generation of young scientists, engineers and inventors.
