"When I left school I knew I wanted an apprenticeship because it played to my strengths, as I feel doing something hands-on is a much more enjoyable way for me to learn. After hearing at school about the apprenticeship opportunities Ibstock has to offer, and with it being so local, I felt this was the right choice for me.
The lab’s structured training program runs through all the tests a brick has to pass before it can be used, so I am looking forward to testing and handling a variety of different Ibstock products throughout my time here."

"I chose to undertake an apprenticeship as I wanted to not only learn a skill, but also gain experience in a work environment, in order to develop and obtain lifelong skills in this career path.
I wanted to join Ibstock as I was made aware that there apprenticeship programmes are an amazing way to kick-start a career path that appeals to your interests, I was also very intrigued by the apprentice position they was offering, as it appealed to not only my skill set, but opportunities of learning and developing within the digital marketing sector.
In my first year at Ibstock, I am looking forward to learning how a business functions, as well as learning how to create and showcase content for the business."

"I chose an apprenticeship to gain qualifications and experience in something new. With having a young family I could never afford to go to college and not have a wage coming in, so this is the perfect solution for me to earn while I learn!
I have always heard brilliant feedback about the company, my dad has worked here for almost 28 years and I know that he has always enjoyed his time with Ibstock and that it is a good company to work for.
I have loved my first few weeks with Ibstock! Everyone is so welcoming, friendly and helpful and really feel like this has made me feel part of the team already. I have learnt so much in a short space of time and really appreciate the training and support that I am being given."

"I feel this apprenticeship is a great opportunity for me to gain hands-on skills in a practical environment. As well as, build the knowledge and experience needed for a leadership role, which is something I value.
My colleagues have been very accommodating and kind and I am eager to continue building on my experience."

Level 3 Procurement and Supply Operations
"I didn’t feel as though university was for me, so an apprenticeship was the ideal solution as your still ‘learning’ but in a more practical way, rather than academic. I am really enjoying trying new things and meeting different people within the business. It has opened my eyes to the construction industry and has made me appreciate how much goes into making bricks. I would highly recommend an apprenticeship with Ibstock, the people are extremely friendly and welcoming, and you feel thoroughly supported on your apprenticeship journey. An apprenticeship is the perfect way to continue learning in a more hands on way, whilst gaining real life industry experience."

“My typical day consists of a variety of jobs, such as speaking to the factories to make sure suppliers are meeting our business requirements and obtaining the data for potential tenders. Since being here at Ibstock I have developed my communication and organisational skills, learnt how to build relationships with suppliers, and how to carry out data analysis. It’s such a friendly environment and you’ve got support throughout the business."

“So far on my Apprenticeship I have loved my time here and have been made to feel welcome by all my colleagues. I personally enjoy learning from other colleagues including placing orders and processing samples. The reason I chose an Apprenticeship with Ibstock is there is lots of scope to work my way up with the business and to learn new things along the way. I would definitely recommend an Apprenticeship with Ibstock as the support from the staff is amazing.”

Level 3 Digital Support Technician
"Embarking on an apprenticeship with Ibstock was a transformative decision for me. Despite having no prior experience in IT, my fascination with technology drove me to pursue this opportunity. My colleagues have been exceptionally supportive, creating an environment where questions are encouraged, & confidence is boosted. The team’s willingness to share knowledge has not only accelerated my learning but has made the entire experience enjoyable. The hands-on experience and mentorship have not only equipped me with practical skills but also confirmed my passion."

"I thoroughly enjoy the apprenticeship even though my college is performed over online classes, and I think the best part about it is being able to get the work experience that will be benefit me for years to come. The amount I have learned in my short time with Ibstock is truly astonishing and everyone I have met has been great people. If anyone were to consider joining Ibstock on apprenticeship scheme I would highly recommend as you will be surrounded by people who want you to succeed and who are willing to help you make the most out of your apprenticeship."

Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician
"While researching apprenticeships, Ibstock stood out to me due to its long heritage, opportunity for growth, and commitment to sustainability. When I joined Ibstock I felt welcomed as a part of the team from the beginning. My role involves working across a number of sites, which has given me the opportunity to meet and work with a range of people on a variety of different tasks and projects. This diversity is one of the aspects of my apprenticeship that I enjoy the most."

Level 2 Mineral Processing Mobile & Static Plant Operator
"Since starting here I’ve had training on loading shovels, excavators, LOTOTO (Lock-Out - Tag-Out - Try-Out), first aid and much more. I think apprenticeships are one of the best ways to learn anything because instead of reading and writing about the job, you’re actually doing it. The things I’m enjoying at the moment are operating and doing external inspections. For anyone who is interested in joining Ibstock through an apprenticeship I say go for it, I can’t fault it one bit."

"I chose to do an apprenticeship because it was the best fit for me after completing my A-levels and it was in my head the best option to help kick-start a career to build.
I chose Ibstock as the location was a big plus, being so close to where I live, and the challenges you may be faced with over the apprenticeship was something I was willing to take on.
In my first year I am looking forward to getting to grips with all the processes and terminology and what is required to make the factories and quarries move as efficiently as possible. Also, meeting my co-workers and gaining a good relationship."
